Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of endogenous growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH) designed to stimulate endogenous growth hormone (GH) secretion via the GHRH receptor (GHRH-R) on pituitary somatotrophs.
In preclinical research, Tesamorelin is studied as a physiologic GH-axis modulator, allowing investigators to examine hypothalamic–pituitary signaling, GH pulsatility, endocrine feedback, and metabolic downstream effects without administering exogenous GH.
